Just received this email from my club president a few minutes ago. It's the text of the
remarks he'll make tomorrow morning when he presents Nick with David's Paul Harris Fellow.
Thought you might enjoy reading this - very uplifting.

Remarks for Presentation of
the Paul Harris Fellow
from Larry Eichenbaum. President, Rotary CLub of Lake Conroe
January 30, 2003
In Memory of David F. Nordstrom:
The presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow recognition is The Rotary Foundation's way of
expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and
educational programs. It is named for our founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who
started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.
Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life
demonstrates a shared purpose with theirs and the objectives of The Rotary
Foundation. Today, we have the honor and pleasure of recognizing David F. Nordstrom,
as his life is further memorialized with this Paul Harris Fellow recognition.
Nicholas, his son and best buddy, is here today to accept this very special award that was
given in his father's honor and memory. Yes, David was designated to receive
this recognition as a special expression of love from The Nordstrom Family and
Friends.
A world of peace and good will come closer to reality today as David F. Nordstrom
becomes a Paul Harris Fellow. It is because of gifts like the one The Nordstrom
Family and Friends have lovingly made in David's honor and memory that The Rotary
Foundation is able to carry out an array of programs that achieve beneficial changes in
our world such as: improved living conditions, increased food production, better
education, wider availability of treatment and rehabilitation for the sick and
disabled, new channels for the flow of international understanding, and brighter hopes for
peace. The family's gift has been earmarked specifically to help carry out the
global quest of Rotary, to eradicate Polio worldwide by 2005.
A contribution to The Rotary Foundation is an investment in the ideal of good will,
peace, and understanding. That is an ideal held high by Rotarians the world over,
and one that David's family and friends clearly share. Working with
such individuals of good will, we believe the ideal will become a reality.
With Kris' help, it gives me great pleasure, to present to Nicholas in honor and memory
of his father the three emblems of appreciation given to a Paul Harris Fellow - -
certificate, medallion and pin. Please accept our congratulations and sincere
thanks, as this gift is committed to help reach our common goals of world understanding
and peace.
